Metropolitan Rocky Mountain Cinemas selected T. W. Beck Architects to design another mountain resort theatre, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Wildhorse Marketplace specified the exterior materials of “Cor-Ten” metal siding and stone. The owner and architect selected “ICF” insulated concrete forms for both the exterior walls and interior walls between auditoriums for their excellent sound deadening and insulation qualities.
The theatre seats 567 people in six stadium auditoriums ranging in size from 50 to 166 seats with a gross area of 13,612 square feet. The lobby has a vaulted ceiling utilizing gluelam timber beams and exposed ductwork to create a contemporary mountain rustic motif. Hayne Company designed and provided the concession stand on time and in difficult conditions. The theatre was completed in May of 2006 just as the snow began to melt from one of the biggest snow years in over a decade.
