Our client Glenn Travers purchased 80 acres of remote access property, part of the original Smitherman Ranch outside Estes Park. He wanted direct access to US Forest Service property for dirt biking, four wheeling, horseback riding, hiking and hunting. The property had no available grid power and no utility services.
T.W. Beck Architects designed the Carriage House to be totally off grid with PV-solar panels, batteries and 4 back-up propane generators. The main level houses all the toys: dirt bikes, four wheelers and tractor. The upper level provides a bedroom, bath and kitchen/living space to supplement the old historic cabin close-by on the 80 acres.
The Carriage House design is inspired by old historic ranch buildings nearby with two side-shed roofs, and board and batten siding. When you visit this gorgeous property, you feel as if you have gone back in time 150 years.
