The Jennings Custom Home

In 2022, T.W. Beck Architects began working with the Jennings on a custom home. Encouraged by the time they’d spent here; they wished to create a restful mountain home for their time in Estes Park. This project’s hurdles had to do with the site. With less than half an acre and with the zoning requirements at the time, the setbacks and easements on the site left no buildable area. This was remedied through applying for a setback variance that allowed the home to be located to capture the perfect views and fit nicely within the existing grade.

This custom home uses an open concept design to create the ideal entertainment space with a warm mountain feel. Utilizing a loft space, we were able to make the entire west wall with large picture windows that let in light and draws the eye out toward the views of Rocky Mountain National Park. The walk-out basement provides another entertainment space that captures the same views.

This home also was designed with environmentally-conscious decisions. The roof will be made with structurally-insulated panels (SIPs). SIPs are high-performance building systems for residential or commercial use. They are made of two panels of OSB with insulating foam core between them. The result is a strong, energy-efficient and cost-effective building system. Additionally, the home is set up to prepare for PV panels to be mounted to the roof. The garage is setup with an electric-vehicle charging station with conduit run to the roof to connect to the PV panels.

This building is just beginning construction in 2025, and we are eager to see the finished product.
